The Melia hotels are located in the western sector of Playa Santa Maria. The Sol Cayo Santa Maria was the first hotel to open its doors in December 2001, then the Melia Cayo Santa Maria in December 2003, the Melia Las Dunas in December 2006 and recently the Melia Buenavista in December 2010.     Great News! Year 2010 is the 20th anniversary of the first hotel administered by Melia Hotels International in Cuba. Congratulations!

    Important informations about the Melia hotels ...

  • Since November 1st, 2010, the Melia Cayo Santa Maria is not for adult only. The reason is the introduction of the adult only Melia Buenavista hotel. The mini-club is for 3-12 years old children.
  • There are two new « a la carte » restaurants in the Melia Cayo Santa Maria, a French and Japanese restaurants. This hotel is exclusive to the tour operator Transat Holidays for Canadian customers.
  • All the buffet restaurants of the Melia Las Dunas are now air conditionned.
  • The grill restaurant « Los Siboneyes » of the Melia Buenavista will be split in two new restaurants ... Mexican cuisine « Los Agaves » and Asian cuisine « Bana ». The forecast date for the opening is July 2012.
  • The Melia Cayo Santa Maria and the Melia Las Dunas share only the spa services, gym, tennis courts, climbing wall and squash. These services are offered are located near the Pueblo Las Dunas.
  • Guests of Melia Cayo Santa Maria have access to bars and disco of the Sol Cayo Santa Maria but not the restaurants.
  • All hotel guests have access to the spa « Aguas Claras » ($) located between the Melia Cayo Santa Maria and Melia Las Dunas (reservations required).
  • The customers of the Melia Buenavista have access to all services of the three other Melia hotels on the island. There is a free shuttle bus. Click HERE to know where the other hotels are located and the distances in kilometers from the Melia Buenavista.
