All hotels in Cayo Santa Maria have computers connected to the Internet. They are usually located in air-conditioned rooms, non-smoking area near the lobby. You may bring a drink with you during your session.
Note that this service is not part of your all-inclusive travel package, except for customers of the 5-stars hotel Melia Buenavista.
Operation is quite simple. You must go to the hotel lobby to buy an Internet card. The cost is 10 to 12 pesos convertible (CUC) per hour of use. This is a card with two scratch boxes, one for the username and one for the password.
When you are connected, a screen appears with the number of remaining minutes of your connection. When finished, you should log off and the remaining minutes can be used in another session WITH the same card.
ATTENTION! Internet connection in Cuba is very slow. You must be patient. Most of the time, the keyboard is configured in Spanish, so forget about the accents! Good news! An underwater fiber-optic cable is being installed to connect Cuba to high-speed Internet from Venezuela.
